Game Recap

Shelbyville defeated Richmond 3-2 in the first round of Sectionals. In an entertaining, back-and-forth game, the Bears struck first after Evan Witte beat his defender down the line, cut the ball back to Trae Hassebroek, who found Tyce Taylor in the middle of the box for a nice one-touch finish. Shelbyville had several opportunities in the first half but were consistently denied by the Richmond keeper. With the scored tied at 1 in the second half, Hassebroek found the back of the net late in the second half. With 5 minutes to play, Richmond was awarded a free kick outside the box which they took advantage of to level the score. Instead of sitting back to waiting for overtime, the Bears pressed the attack and Hassebroek scored the game winner with under 3 minutes left.

Shelbyville will take on Connersville in the semifinal on Wednesday at 5pm at Greenfield-Central.
