Multiple Teams · Tackett’s Hat Trick Leads Golden Bears to Win

Alexis Tackett scored three goals to lead Shelbyville’s girls soccer team to a season-opening 6-1 win at Beech Grove.

The senior also was credited with an assist Tuesday on Hannah Murray’s goal to help goalkeeper Alexis Knose earn her first varsity victory.

Danielle Eberhart scored Shelbyville’s other goals — both unassisted — against the Hornets.

Shelbyville attempted 39 shots on goal, according to head coach Chelsea Dourson.

Knose finished with eight saves before being replaced by freshman goalkeeper Ali Routien.

Boys tennis

Shelbyville 4, Hauser 1

At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears swept the doubles matches and added a three-set win at No. 1 singles to top the Jets.

At No. 1 doubles, Connor Phelps and Luke Asher defeated Alex Gross and Jacob Johnson, 7-5, 6-2.

Peyton McQueen and Bryce Asher won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles over Sean Miller and Jacob Rose.

Shelbyville’s J.T. Uhls had the easiest win, prevailing 6-1, 6-0 over Jacob Rudd at No. 3 singles.

And Evan Phares closed out the wins for the Golden Bears with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 win over Justin Compton at No. 1 singles.

Hauser’s lone victory came at No. 2 singles where Sam Meek defeated Luke Foltz, 6-2, 2-6, 10-6.

Shelbyville got JV wins from Sebastian Sandman, Patrick Addis and the doubles pairings of Colin Pease and Zack Crosby, and Dennis Doyle and Dalton Rogerson.


Indian Creek def. Waldron, 25-16, 25-21, 25-14

At Indian Creek, the Braves pinned the first loss of the season on the Mohawks.

Morgan Wood led Waldron with 14 assists and five kills. Clarice Fischer had two aces and two blocks. Olivia Shauck finished with eight digs.

Indian Creek won the JV match, 25-11, 25-12.

Eastern Hancock def. Morristown, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-19

Alayna Munson had a team-high 14 kills in Morristown’s season-opening loss in Charlottesville.

Abby Carpenter finished with 10 kills while Kailey Hardwick and Patience Wood each had three aces.

The Royals won the JV match over Morristown, 25-13, 25-18.
