Girls Varsity Swimming · Records Fall for Shelbyville Swimmers in Home Meet

The Shelbyville swim teams hosted Whiteland on Tuesday. The visitors won the boys’ side of the meet, 118-64, and the girls’ side, 106-75.

The Golden Bears’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Karissa and Elliana Hamilton, Grace Lux and Marlee Rice broke the school record Tuesday (1:45.37).

Lux also broke her own school record in the 100 breast (1:08.26) and topped the fastest school mark in the 200 IM to set another record. She finished the 200 IM in 2:13.40.

Lux and the Hamilton sisters also took first in the 200 medley relay.

E. Hamilton won the 50 free as did Nick Amos for the boys. Amos helped SHS win the 200 freestyle relay.

Spartans drop opener

The Southwestern boys’ basketball team fell to No. 14 Edinburgh on the road Tuesday in its season opener. The Spartans lost 60-48.

Blake McClure led SW with 13 points. Anick Hartsell added 12 points.

Coltan Henderson led all scorers with 17 points for the Lancers.
