Shelbyville High School is proud to announce John Hartnett as their next Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. John took over as Shelbyville’s Interim Head Coach in January 2020.
John graduated from Shelbyville High School where he was a two sport athlete playing basketball and baseball and also a Paul Cross Award winner. He then went on to attend Ball State and earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education. John has been teaching and coaching at Shelbyville High School for the past three years.
His coaching career began as a boys’ basketball volunteer assistant coach at Shelbyville High School and he moved up through the ranks as a freshmen coach and then a varsity assistant all at Shelbyville High School. He then took over as Varsity Interim Head Coach in January of 2020.
John is the son of John Hartnett Sr. and Karen Hartnett and has one brother Derek McNew. He is excited to be getting married to fiancee Alexis Miller in the near future.
