Shelbyville rebounded after its first HHC loss on Tuesday to pick up a 3-0 win over conference-foe New Castle. Whether it was heavy legs from the Mt Vernon game or adjusting to the turf field, the Bears started slowly against the Trojans, and struggled to put together the final pass throughout the first half. Shelbyville controlled possession throughout and the defense played extremely well by covering and supporting each other. Garrett Davis in particular played well in all facets of the game. Just before the break, Tim Clark had a beautifully curled shot from 25 yards out find the back of the net to break the tie. Right after halftime, Clark continued to create offense by playing a ball to Trae Hassebroek, who redirected it into the path of Evan Witte, who poked the ball around the keeper. Not to be outdone by Clark, Hassebroek killed the game off with a laser of his own from distance. Nick Amos had a solid game in the net, picking up his second shutout of the season. Shelbyville is now 5-3 (2-1), and will face Greenfield on Monday with a chance for a share of the conference lead.
