In a matchup with a top five team in the state, Shelbyville went toe-to-toe with Hamilton Southeastern. The first half went back and forth with both teams having opportunities. Cory Taylor and Sam Price each had breakaway chances that the Royals’ keeper was forced to save. Kaleb Schaf made several big saves to keep the game level. Midway through the second half, Oscar Hernandez had his shot from distance stopped with a diving save. Hamilton Southeastern found their first breakthrough with 13 minutes remaining when they were able to slip the ball across the 6 yard box for a tap in at the back post. While pushing to get an equalizer, Shelbyville’s back line was spread thin and allowed a through ball to get in behind. It was a great effort by the Bears against one of the top teams in the state.
