A slow start was perhaps expected with an early start time and a heat index pushing 100. Shelbyville controlled possession throughout most of the first half, but struggled to find the correct combination. The Batesville defense cluttered the box and were able to clear a few shots that had beaten the keeper. With under two minutes to go before the break, Cory Taylor found himself in a 1-on-1 situation. He was able to touch the ball around the Bulldog keeper, then fire home a shot from a tight angle. The Bears used the momentum of Taylor’s goal to come out with more fire in the second half. Within the first 10 minutes, Nolan Parker and Taylor had each scored to put the game out of reach. Eddie Carrizalez tacked on a fourth. Kaleb Schaf came up with some big saves while the game was still tight and held on for his third shutout of the season.
