Shelbyville has been plagued by slow starts this season. In a big conference game with the Bell on the line, they were determined not to let old habits be their downfall. Evan Witte and Cory Taylor each scored within the first 12 minutes to give the Golden Bears a commanding lead. The game was physical and GK Kaleb Schaf was called into action on several occasions. With Shelbyville leading 2-0 to start the second half, New Pal came out strong and tried to regain momentum. The game seemed to have turned when the Dragons were awarded a penalty kick. Schaf, though, made a great diving save to turn momentum back to the Golden Bears. Oscar Hernandez added a little insurance with a left-footed curler that went in off the crossbar. The defense led by Schaf, Cameron Baker, and Jackson Browning helped keep the third consecutive clean sheet. Kevin Rosales added a fourth for good measure to close the game out.
