An hour and twenty minute weather delay didn't put much of a damper on a beautiful Tuesday night that featured great competition for the Golden Bears by way of Columbus East and Southwestern. The Bears delivered strong performances at their home facility, with several athletes claiming top spots across a variety of disciplines. On the track, Shia Veach secured first place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:49.08 and Joaquin Delgado narrowly beat the severe weather alarm to take the top spot in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.77 seconds, a huge personal best time. In the field, Noah Jones cleared a personal best height of 9' 0" to win the boys pole vault, and Ethan Griffin's best toss of 138' 6" was enough for the win in discus. The girls' team was particularly dominant in the distance and relay events. Aerin Garcia-Santiago took the top spot in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:11.66, while America Leon earned a victory in the 3200 meter run, finishing in 12:54.08. In the sprints, Sonora O’Connor crossed the line first in the 200 meter dash with a winning mark of 27.01, and Macey Robbins claimed first place in the 400 meter dash by clocking in at 1:02.95. Haylee Barnes returned to the pole vault runway for the first time in a few weeks to clear 7' 0" and take first place. The Lady Bears also swept the relays, winning the girls 4x100 meter relay in 51.61, the girls 4x400 meter relay in 4:25.07, and the girls 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:42.81.
