The Golden Bears delivered a strong performance at the Franklin Community Bill Self Invite, highlighted by the girls team securing 3rd place overall. This finish marks the highest team score the program has achieved in recent years, fueled by a series of top-tier individual and relay efforts. Meet MVP Sonora O'Connor led the way for the Bears, capturing 1st place in the 300m hurdles with a personal best time of 46.88. She's quickly closing in on the school record held by former state champion, Sarah Snapp. Sonora also secured 1st place in the girls long jump and added 3rd-place finishes in the 200m dash and 100m hurdles. The girls' relays were equally impressive, with all three teams earning 2nd-place finishes. The 4x100m relay team of Mary O'Connor, Diana Gasca, Wura Ogunmoyela, and Amara Lewis finished in 51.94. In the 4x400m relay, Jordyn Noe, Alyna Castanon, Mary O'Connor, and Macey Robbins clocked a time of 4:14.20. The 4x800m relay, featuring Alyna Castanon, Aerin Garcia-Santiago, America Leon, and Macey Robbins, crossed the line in 10:32.05. Robbins also added to the scoring by winning the 800m run with a personal record of 2:25.64, while Amara Lewis took 3rd in the 100m dash. Jordyn Noe cleared 5' 3", a personal best by three inches, to take 2nd place in the high jump. The boys team also saw strong performances, particularly in the field events where Ethan Griffin dominated. Griffin took 1st place in the boys discus throw and followed up with a 2nd-place finish in the shot put. On the track, Shia Veach ran a strong race in the 3200m run, placing 2nd with a time of 9:48.86. Beyond the athletic results, the program was proud to recognize Diana Gasca and Shia Veach as the Bill Self Service Award winners for the meet.
