The Golden Bears put together a dominant performance to sweep the three-way meet against Rushville and Southwestern. Both the boys and girls teams secured first-place finishes, overcoming challenging conditions that included a persistent wind with gusts exceeding 30 mph on the home stretch. Wura Ogunmoyela swept the short sprints, taking first in both the 100 meters (13.97) and 200 meters (28.81) while Sonora O'Connor took the victory in the 400 meters (1:04.12). America Leon earned a victory in the 1600 meters (6:08.43), while Macey Robbins crossed the line first in the 800 meters (2:32.51). Aerin Garcia-Santiago took the win in the 3200 meters (13:15.42). Jordyn Noe won the 100m hurdles (18.43) and Makaila Hungate took the top spot in the 300m hurdles (59.04). In the field, the girls were equally successful. Mary O’Connor cleared 4' 6" to win high jump, while Haylee Barnes took first in pole vault with a new PR of 8' 0". The throwers contributed significant points as well, with Taylor Abell winning shot put (28' 1") and Madalyn Bolin taking first in discus (84' 0"). Mary O'Connor, Diana Gasca, Wura Ogunmoyela, and Amlan N'Taye also secured a victory in the 4x100m relay (53.78). The boys team utilized depth to pull off a team win of their own. Shia Veach was a double winner on the track, taking first place in both the 1600 meters (5:00.65) and 800 meters (2:15.81). Joaquin Delgado also earned two individual wins, sweeping the 110m hurdles (17.31) and 300m hurdles (46.41). On the infield, Eli Davis won high jump with a clearance of 5' 6". The squad of Anderson Mollenkopf, Jonathan Roell, Ethan Pritchett, and Iran Daza won the 4x800 relay (10:06.37) while the team of Josue Isaac, Trell Garner, Bryson Pierce, and Shane Owens won the 4x400 relay (3:49.83) to round out the event champions. Up next, the Bears will split into two squads with some of the team attending the Whiteland JV Invitational on Thursday and the rest attending the Dennis McNulty Invitational at Warren Central on Friday.
