Shelbyville HS Cross Country teams hosted the Hoosier Legends Conference Meet for the first time yesterday at the Blue River CC Course, our last home meet of the season. The girls team had a tremendous showing, finishing Runner-Up and missing a 1st place finish (to Greenwood) by only 1 single point. America Leon finished 3rd (20:37), followed by Macey Robbins in 4th (21:04). 3rd for the ladies was Harper Kinsey in 14th, finishing with another huge PR time of 23:19. 4th for the girls was Kat Seal (19th, 24:07) and 5th was Anne Marie Fansler (23rd), who also had another huge time drop, finishing in 24:39. We are SO proud of the team effort these girls had yesterday - way to go! The boys team had a strong showing to finish 4th (top half of the conference). Boys were led by Shia Veach (2nd, 16:27) and Eden Ortega, who had an especially strong race, passing several at the end of the race to finish 8th overall with a big new PR of 17:43! 3rd place for the boys was Kendryk Pike (19th, 19:10 - new PR), 4th was Anderson Mollenkopf (20th, 19:12, season best), and 5th was Tanner Jones (34th, 20:51 - new PR). All-in-all, our teams celebrated 13 all-time PRs and another 4 Season Best times yesterday! 5 (America, Macey, Harper, Shia, Eden) earned an All-Conference ribbon for their performances (see pictures). Friday, we travel to Lavern Gibson (the state course in Terre Haute) to race under the lights for the Nike Twilight Meet in the Friday evening open races.
