The Golden Bears traveled to Plainfield High School for the Regional 5 meet featuring some of the best track & field teams in the state. Senior Blake Hughes ran a gutsy 400 meter dash, placing 8th overall in a new lifetime best time of 50.21. Unofficially, he becomes the second-fastest 400m runner in Shelbyville history, behind only Daniel Kuhn. After only a short, 45-minute rest, Blake anchored the 4x400 relay that included senior Christian Powell, sophomore Kamden Turner, and senior Logan Page. The foursome ran a very courageous race and set a new team PR with a time of 3:26.98, placing 7th overall. While they fell a little short of their goal of a school record, their time is the fastest in at least the last 11 seasons and is possibly the second-fastest 4x400 relay team in school history. That caps off a terrific season for the Bears. We are so incredibly proud of these young men! Full results: https://indiana.tfrrs.org/results/92466/IHSAA_Regional_5_Boys
